Year 7 - Outdoor Camp
Each year, Year 7 Camp takes place. The camp is part of a highly valuable and compulsory Outdoor Education curriculum and offers opportunities for both leadership and physical challenges for your daughter.
This year's camp was held in the Illawarra area. In March 2017, the students enjoyed their immersive learning experience away on camp at Jamberoo Valley Lodge.
From taking surfing lessons in Seven Mile Beach, canoeing and exploring the Minnamurra Rainforest, they had an incredible, action-packed schedule. They also learned about Indigenous culture and history with Uncle Les, who showed them the didgeridoo, discussed bush tucker – with a particular focus on wattle seeds and lemon myrtle – and most interestingly, how to communicate with message sticks.
Year 7 loved the opportunity to camp, taking turns to stay in cabins for one night, and outside in tents for another night, where they even cooked their own meals on a trangia stove!
